In order to participate in tryouts or any other athletic activity, students must have registered online at
https://students.arbitersports.com/organizations/yorktown-high-school
This process will include uploading a valid, stamped VHSL physicals form and APS participation agreement. The VHSL physical form has changed as of April 2025 and the new form must be used moving forward (see attached form). Physicals are now valid for 14 months from the date of the doctor’s signature and families are responsible for ensuring they update their student’s physical within the 14 month period or the student will be ineligible midseason. Any physical dated after May 1, 2025 will ensure eligibility for the entire 2025-2026 school year.
Field Hockey
All students (8th-12th grade) should report to the field at 5:45 pm for tryouts Monday-Wednesday, August 4-6. All players who make the team are expected to attend daily practices throughout the month of August and into the school year. As a team sport where players must learn to work together and perform as a group, players should not plan to miss any time after August 4 – doing so without prior disclosure before tryouts will result in removal from the team. Any student who will miss more than one day after August 4 should disclose this information to the coach on August 4 at the start of tryouts – such information will not exclude the student from making the team but lack of disclosure can result in removal.
