Football Volunteers

It is only with the help of parent volunteers that we’re able to pull off our Football seasons. So Thank You in advance for helping us provide the best possible experience for our players. Sign ups are posted on yhsboosters.org both on the front page and on the football page. There’s lots of ways to contribute from providing donuts to the players on Film Review, to picking up meals for the Freshman on game days, or helping out in the Snack Bar for home games and we’ll add some other opportunites as the season rolls on like Senior Night. Football Dues

Player dues can be paid online at yhsboosters.org/football-dues or via Venmo @YHSFB-boosters (include your player’s name please)! For those who have paid dues, Player Packs will be distributed after practice. If dues presents a financial challenge, please contact me at [email protected] or have your player reach out to a coach.

Discount Card Sales

As many of you football parents know, we raise a significant portion of our football booster budget every year through the sale of discount cards that offer discounts at local businesses. We are planning for the players to sell the cards on the afternoon of Sat 8/17. Please plan on having your player available that afternoon from 1-6. We won’t run that long, but we’re nailing down the final time window based on the scrimmage with Bishop Ireton and Freshman football practice.

Football Tryouts

JV and V Schedule Adjustment – August 8 and 9

Due to delays in installation of the track from the vandalism early in the project, striping of the track will not take place until August 8.

Tryouts for JV and V football will proceed as originally scheduled, Monday, August 5 through Wednesday, August 7 with arrival at 2 pm at the Yorktown field each day.

On August 8 and 9 (Thursday and Friday), football tryouts will be held at 9:30 am-Noon at Washington-Liberty field.

The location and time of tryouts on Saturday, August 10 has not yet been established but will either be in the morning or early afternoon hours.

We expect to be back at Yorktown’s field on Monday, August 12 for freshmen tryouts and JV/V practice in the afternoon.

We apologize for any inconvenience this shift to morning practices on August 8 and 9 causes for players trying out and their families.

Football Tryouts – All Teams

Freshman Football

Tryouts begin on Monday August 12th through August 16th via afternoon practices (typically 2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.). Participation throughout this tryout window is crucial for an accurate evaluation as part of the tryout process. 

Students should report at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12th to the Main Gym for check-in, tryout procedures, and be prepared to go outside for practice until 5:30 p.m.  

Team composition decisions will be made following Friday’s tryout.  All players who make the team are expected to attend daily practices throughout the month of August and into the school year.  Any student who will miss more than one day after August 12th should disclose this information to the coach before tryouts officially begin – such information will not exclude the student from making the team but lack of disclosure can result in removal.  

There is a slight possibility due to weather some practices will be held in the morning August 13th – 16th. Please prepare accordingly.

JV/Varsity

Players report to the field directly on August 5 at 2 pm.  Practice will run 2:30-5:30. There is a slight possibility due to weather some practices will be held in the morning. Please prepare accordingly.

Freshman Football Interest Meeting May 9

There will be an optional freshmen football information meeting on Thursday, May 9 at 6:30 pm in Patriot Hall at Yorktown High School. 

The head freshmen football coach, school staff and booster leadership will be available to answer questions and go over expectations and opportunities for participating on the freshmen football team.  All rising 8th and 9th grade players and parents are welcome.
