YHS Field Hockey – Rising 8th and 9th Graders
If your child is interested in playing Field Hockey this fall at Yorktown, please visit our Field Hockey information page on YHSBoosters.org Even if your child has not decided, this is a great way to understand exactly what to expect from the program in the event they do choose to play from practice requirements to type of equipment used to coaching style. We have a great set of coaches and most of them actually teach in Arlington and with back to back trips to the State Championships (with a win in 2021), we’re a pretty successful team as well.
Freshman practices/tryouts begin around August 1. Practices are mandatory and you should expect practices to run Monday – Friday and Saturday mornings during August. All players must have a VHSL physical dated after May 1, 2023 on file with the Athletic Department in order to play. A copy of the physical can be found here – https://www.yorktownsports.org/main/filesLinks/. Additionally, players will need an outdoor Field Hockey stick and shin guards. Once you are at the YHS – Field Hockey page, click on the gear icon in the top right corner and request access to Pre-Season 2023 – All parents welcome.
