Lou Serpa Scholarship Award

Lou Serpa dedicated his life to young players throughout Arlington. He was a coach, mentor and teacher. After his death in 2005, an annual scholarship, awarded to a Yorktown baseball player, was created in his memory so that his legacy would be passed on through generations. Varsity baseball underclassman vote for a senior player who exemplifies the following criteria:

  • Respect for the game and knowledge of the rules.
  • Respect for umpires, coaches and teammates.
  • Enthusiasm and passion for the game.
  • Leadership, guidance and encouragement to younger players.
  • Understanding of the team concept in the game of baseball.

Jones Family Scholarship

The Jones Family Scholarship is awarded each year to a Senior who demonstrates the true commitment of being a team player. The recipient will have given their all to the team not only on but also off the field. This player defines what a teammate is by pushing others to continue to get better even if it means sacrificing on their end at times. They are a Yorktown Patriot through and through and would give any and everything they have to the team. Team goes first always!
