In 2019 the Yorktown Swim and Dive Team joined forces with the Josh Anderson Foundation/Our Minds Matter to raise funds for mental health programming, resources, and outreach at Yorktown High School. We aim to raise awareness in our community by removing the stigma associated with getting the help people need. Much like committing to a team and deciding to work hard to see improvement in your sport, getting help to work through something as complicated and confusing as depression or anxiety requires both dedication and effort. Through these efforts our team can be an example for our YHS community by leading healthy, active lifestyles that promote positive mental attitudes and awareness through goal setting and hard work! We are asking for donations for individual time/score improvements realized during competition throughout the season—our athletes are setting goals for themselves and asking others to support their efforts toward accomplishing those goals. Not only will this motivate our athletes to stay focused on becoming stronger competitors, but also to continue working towards becoming more impactful individuals in their high school community and beyond! Since 2019 we have raised over $15k and we know we can do even more with your help now!
